The Ascents of James: History and Theology of a Jewish-Christian CommunityRobert E. Van Voorst
The Ascents of James is a Jewish-Christian source of the Pseudo-Clementine Recognitions. Dating from the latter half of the second century, it presents a history of Israel from Abraham through Jesus to the early church and is one of the earliest extant post-New Testament, Jewish-Christian writings. The present work is a thorough analysis of the document and its setting in early Christianity, including a side-by-side translation of the Latin and Syriac versions and a complete commentary.
